National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) uses a standard rating system which specifies the environmental conditions where waterproof metal boxes can be used. The NEMA rating ranges from 1,2 to 13 depending on the scenarios of the waterproof metal boxes applications.
IP ratings are defined by the international standard EN 60529. The IP rating classifies the degree of protection provided by a waterproof metal box against solids and water contamination.
